Article Unsettled Grounds, Enduring Bonds: A Literature Review on Employee Engagement during Organizational Change(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2026) Abbas, Alhamzah F.; Ahmed, Ayesha; Usman, Muhammad; Shah, Syed Haider AliThis systematic review critically examines how employee engagement is conceptualized and operationalized within the context of organizational change, aiming to uncover prevailing themes, highlight conceptual inconsistencies, and identify gaps in the literature to advance understanding in evolving organizational settings. Guided by the the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA framework, the study analyzes 29 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2006 and 2025, retrieved from the Scopus database, employing thematic synthesis and citation mapping to explore both organizational and individual-level influences on engagement during change. The findings reveal a dual-level framework: at the organizational level, leadership, organizational support, communication, and cultural and contextual dynamics play a central role, while at the individual level, psychological and emotional factors, behavioral patterns, attitudes toward change, and opportunities for skill development and career progression are key drivers. This review contributes by clarifying conceptual boundaries, identifying underexplored dimensions, and providing actionable insights for leaders and HR practitioners to sustain and enhance employee engagement during periods of organizational transition.Article The Need for Death Pedagogy: Academics' Opinions on the Place of Death in the Curricula(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025-06-02) Sonbul, Zeynep FundaThis paper seeks to explore the opinions of educational sciences academics on how death pedagogy should be integrated into curricula across preschool, primary, secondary, and high school levels. The sample comprises academics specializing in educational sciences, who have conducted at least two studies on death, loss, and bereavement, and are affiliated with various universities in T & uuml;rkiye. Seven academics responded to six open-ended questions, and their qualitative responses were analyzed. The results indicated unanimous support for including death pedagogy in the formal curriculum. Key implementation considerations include: (a) collaborating with experts to define the content, methods, and scope; (b) providing comprehensive training for all teachers on the subject and offering additional support for those grappling with their own mortality; (c) ensuring that school counselors play a central role in all phases of planning, implementation, and evaluation; and (d) highlighting the significance of death pedagogy in fostering students' psychological resilience.Article Citation - Scopus: 1Information Sources and Congruency Modulate Preference-Based Decision-Making Processes(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024-07-29) Ozkan, Aysegul; Zhang, JiaxiangPreference-based decisions often need to combine multiple pieces of information. This study investigated how the number of information sources and information congruency affect decision performance. Participants made preference-based choices between two groups of food items. Increasing the number of items in each option led to slower and less accurate decisions. Drift-diffusion modelling showed that more information sources relate to a slower rate of evidence accumulation. Therefore, the additional information impeded rather than improved the decision accuracy. In Experiment 2, each choice option contained either fully congruent information or one piece of incongruent information. Decisions with incongruent information is associated with a lower drift rate than that with congruent information, leading to inferior behaviorual performance. Further model simulations support that the change in attention weighting over information sources leads to the observed effects of item numbers and item congruency. Our results suggest a bounded combination of information sources during preference-based decisions.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 3Effects of External Shocks on the AirBNB Market - Modeling Business Survival Using Geocoded Open Data(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024-12-11) Turk, Umut; Osth, John; Kourtit, Karima; Nijkamp, PeterThis paper seeks to trace the determinants of business survival in the Airbnb market during the latest pandemic. The paper starts with an examination of the key factors determining survival rates of accommodation listings in the Airbnb market during the early shock phase of the pandemic. The analysis is carried out for 10 metropolitan cities all over the world in both 2019 and 2020, so as to investigate the differences in survival probabilities between the pre- and early-pandemic period. We also study the dynamics of the Airbnb market in the late pandemic period using a multinomial logistic regression model. The results show similar patterns as the pre- and early-pandemic periods, indicating a tendency to return to a pre-pandemic state. In particular, in the pandemic time analyses, distance to nature appeared to be positively associated with firm survival, suggesting the importance of a healthy environment for attracting guests during this period. The findings contribute to our understanding of the effects of the pandemic on short-term rental and highlight the role of various critical background factors.
