(2024) Celebi, Mehmet Celil; Celebi, Gulce Tarhan

In the context of Israel's division along religious and ethnic lines, the article explores how the courts influence the definition of national identity and citizenship, and how this process unfolds. By analyzing critical decisions of the Israeli Supreme Court through discourse analysis, the article concentrates on discrimination cases on Jewish identity and Israeli Arabs. Additionally, it discusses the inadequacy of decisions determining equal citizenship rights for Israeli Arabs and the impact of 'Fundamental Law'-the law that states that Israel is a Nation-State of the Jewish People, on the Israeli Supreme Court.
