Remazol Black 5 Boyasının Allium scorodoprasum L. Biyokütlesi ile Biyolojik Olarak Uzaklaştırılması; Biyosorpsiyon İzotermleri, Kinetik ve Termodinamik Çalışmalar
    (2023) Arslan, Dilek Senol
The current study aims to use Allium scorodoprasum L. biomass as an adsorbent for the bioremoval of Remazol black 5 (RB5) dye from aqueous solutions. The binding capacity of Allium scorodoprasum L. biosorbent to RB5 was investigated by recording the changes in pH, concentration of RB5 dye, temperature and contact time in batch aqueous solutions. Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R), Freundlich, and Langmuir isotherm models were used to explain the experimental data. The maximum RB5 dye biosorption capacity of the biosorbent was found to be 19.8 mg g-1 at 25 oC. The average biosorption-free energy indicated that the biosorption event took place by chemical reaction and that it followed the PFO and IPD rate kinetics, respectively. Finally, thermodynamic adsorption studies indicated that the RB5 dye biosorption was both endothermic and spontaneous. The Allium scorodoprasum L. had a significant adsorption capacity for the anionic RB5 dye.

Performance Comparison of Waste Cooking Oil on Coal Slime Flotation With Sunflower Oil and Gas Oil
(2023-12-31) Hacıfazlıoglu, Hasan; Arslan, Dilek Senol
This study explores the potential use of waste cooking sunflower oil (WSO) as an eco-friendly collector for coal slime flotation. WSO and coal slime are both wastes and are hazardous to human health and the environment, if not disposed of properly. In this study, co-disposal of the two wastes was investigated; a gas oil (petroleum derived oil) and crude sunflower oil (CSO) were used for collector efficiency comparisons. This study also presents a green, low-cost and environmentally friendly alternative. Kinetic flotation tests were carried out to study the flotation selectivity, flammability and combustible recovery. Contact angle measurements were performed with 3 different oils (CSO, WSO and gas oil) by sessile drop technique to determine the hydrophobicity and surface properties of coal. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was utilized to analyze the chemical composition of both waste oil and coal samples. Keywords: Sunflower oil, waste cooking oil, gas oil, coal slime, flotation

Türkiye’de Farklı Yörelerde Bulunan Kolemanit Minerallerinin Fiziksel, Kimyasal Ve Termal Özelliklerinin Tayini
(Gumushane University, 2021-08-24) Senol-Arslan, Dilek; Arslan, Dilek Senol; Şenol Arslan, Dilek
In this study, colemanite is an important boron mineral which constitutes about 76% of Turkey's boron reserves, is frequently used in applications obtained as a result of scientific and technological developments. In this context, a detailed literature survey was carried out colemanite minerals. Characteristic and structural features of the colemanite samples of four different regions (Kestelek, Emet (Hisarcık, Espey), Bigadiç regions) were determined by analyzes such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Inductively Coupled Plasma, ICP and Mass Spectrometry, MS (ICP-MS), Thermogravimetric and Differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), and Fouier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) methods. In line with these findings, the mineralogical, chemical and thermal properties of pure colemanite crystals were determined and the similarities and differences between the samples were revealed. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
