Article Citation - WoS: 24Citation - Scopus: 27A Numerical Investigation of the GRLW Equation Using Lumped Galerkin Approach With Cubic B-Spline(Springer International Publishing AG, 2016) Zeybek, Halil; Karakoc, S. Battal Gazi; 01. Abdullah Gül UniversityIn this work, we construct the lumped Galerkin approach based on cubic B-splines to obtain the numerical solution of the generalized regularized long wave equation. Applying the von Neumann approximation, it is shown that the linearized algorithm is unconditionally stable. The presented method is implemented to three test problems including single solitary wave, interaction of two solitary waves and development of an undular bore. To prove the performance of the numerical scheme, the error norms L-2 and L-infinity and the conservative quantities I-1, I-2 and I-3 are computed and the computational data are compared with the earlier works. In addition, the motion of solitary waves is described at different time levels.Article Citation - WoS: 62Citation - Scopus: 68Prophylactic and Therapeutic Roles of Oleanolic Acid and Its Derivatives in Several Diseases(Baishideng Publishing Group inc, 2020) Sen, Alaattin; 01. Abdullah Gül UniversityOleanolic acid (OA) and its derivatives are widely found in diverse plants and are naturally effective pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds with broad prophylactic and therapeutic roles in various diseases such as ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, metabolic disorders, diabetes, hepatitis and different cancers. This review assembles and presents the latestin vivoreports on the impacts of OA and OA derivatives from various plant sources and the biological mechanisms of OA activities. Thus, this review presents sufficient data proposing that OA and its derivatives are potential alternative and complementary therapies for the treatment and management of several diseases.Article Citation - WoS: 9Role of Pretty Nanoflowers as Novel Versatile Analytical Tools for Sensing in Biomedical and Bioanalytical Applications(Wiley, 2024) Dadi, Seyma; Ocsoy, Ismail; 01. Abdullah Gül UniversityIn recent years, an encouraging breakthrough in the synthesis of immobilized enzymes in flower-shaped called "organic-inorganic hybrid nanoflowers (hNFs)" with greatly enhanced catalytic activity and stability were reported. Although, these hNFs were discovered by accident, the enzymes exhibited highly enhanced catalytic activities and stabilities in the hNFs compared with the free and conventionally immobilized enzymes. Herein, we rationally utilized the catalytic activity of the hNFs for analytical applications. In this comprehensive review, we covered the design and use of the hNFs as novel versatile sensors for electrochemical, colorimetric/optical and immunosensors-based detection strategies in analytical perspective. Formation of nanoflowers and their biosensor function in biomedical and bioanalytical applications. imageArticle Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3A Uniformly Valid Approximation Algorithm for Nonlinear Ordinary Singular Perturbation Problems With Boundary Layer Solutions(Springer int Publ Ag, 2016) Cengizci, Suleyman; Atay, Mehmet Tarik; Eryilmaz, Aytekin; 01. Abdullah Gül University; 02.01. Mühendislik Bilimleri; 02. Mühendislik FakültesiThis paper is concerned with two-point boundary value problems for singularly perturbed nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The case when the solution only has one boundary layer is examined. An efficient method so called Successive Complementary Expansion Method (SCEM) is used to obtain uniformly valid approximations to this kind of solutions. Four test problems are considered to check the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method. The numerical results are found in good agreement with exact and existing solutions in literature. The results confirm that SCEM has a superiority over other existing methods in terms of easy-applicability and effectiveness.
