| dc.description.abstract | The building of the Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Istanbul has been deemed worthy of the “Building / Conservation Category Award” at the 2020 National Architecture Awards “thanks to a meticulous literature research, determining the original design and details of the coastal palace, which occupies an important place in the silhouette of the Bosphorus and enjoys a distinguished place among examples of the art nouveau movement in Istanbul; solving structural problems with the help of modern technology; uncovering historical and artistic details and successfully implementing its conservation.” Following a thorough review of the history of the building -whose restoration project was completed with a comprehensive approach in 2011- the writer points out that the conservation of this important palace should be a permanent mission. | en_US |
