Small-scale public open spaces serve as vital social infrastructures; however, their capacity to foster micro-scale interaction is rarely evaluated systematically. Addressing the gap in current assessment tools, this thesis transforms the psychological concept of 'sociopetality' into a quantitative urban analytical framework. The primary objective of the research is to evaluate and enhance everyday social interaction within these small-scale public spaces. Employing an interdisciplinary mixed-methods design, the study develops a multi-layered Sociopetality Metric (SM) and Index (SI). This framework was empirically applied in Mimarsinan Park, Kayseri, integrating spatial configuration analysis, behavioral mapping, and semi-structured interviews. Findings validate the 'Sociopetality Paradox', demonstrating that inward-looking spatial arrangements strengthen in-group cohesion among familiar users while creating 'sociofugal' barriers that unintentionally restrict interaction with strangers. To resolve this tension, the research identifies that micro-publicness is maximized through 'Activity-Seating Clusters,' where physical comfort converges with active landmark features. These insights were further translated into a 'Sociopetal Revitalization Model' using AI-generated speculative visualizations. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that creating socially sustainable urban environments does not require massive transformation projects. Instead, targeted, low-cost sociopetal interventions and flexible spatial opportunities can successfully catalyze urban dialogue, providing a cross-disciplinary tool for urban planners and architects.
