Security Through Digital Twin-Based Intrusion Detection: A Swat Dataset Analysis
    (IEEE, 2023-10-18) Bozdal, Mehmet
Digital twin, as a virtual replica of physical entity, offer valuable insights into Industrial Control System (ICS) behavior and characteristics. Leveraging the convergence of digital twins and cybersecurity, this research explores its role in securing critical infrastructure, using the Secure Water Treatment (SWaT) system as a case study. Existing intrusion detection systems (IDS) for SWaT encounter challenges related to requiring huge amounts of a dataset for training, being unable to adopt high data dimensionality, and adaptability to emerging threats. To address these issues, a hybrid digital twin model is proposed, combining physics-based models and data-driven approaches. This model facilitates precise attack localization and explainable IDS outcomes. The method exhibits promising capabilities for enhancing critical infrastructure security and adapting to evolving cyber threats. Experimental results demonstrate the ability to detect eight out of nine attack types.

Separation of Fe and Mn From Manganiferous Iron Ores via Reductive Acid Leaching Followed by Magnetic Separation
    (Springer, 2019-08-01) Top, S.
In this study, a process to separate manganese and iron from manganiferous iron ores by reductive acid leaching followed by magnetic separation was conceived and experimentally tested. In the leaching process, sulfuric acid was used as lixiviant and oxalic acid was used as reductant. The experimental results showed that the manganese and iron separation was optimum when the concentration of the sulfuric acid and oxalic acid were 0.75 M and 30 g/L, respectively, at a temperature of 80 °C, a solid/liquid ratio of 67 g/L, stirring speed of 400 rpm, and leaching duration of 60 min. Under this condition, 90.49% and 6.78% of Mn and Fe were dissolved, respectively, from the ore sample with a size fraction of − 106 μm. It was determined that the leaching of manganese from the ores was a second-order reaction with an activation energy (E<inf>a</inf>) of 53.38 kJ/mol. The leaching residues obtained under the optimum condition were subjected to high-intensity wet magnetic separation tests to recover the remaining iron content. This separation process produced a concentrate containing 56.20% Fe and 1.79% Mn with iron and manganese recoveries of 56.83% and 66.73%, respectively. A magnetic separation test from an unleached ore sample was also carried out as a benchmark. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a magnetic separation process was used to a residue obtained from reductive acid leaching of manganiferous iron ores to recover iron. © 2019, Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc.

An Opportunity for Nuri Demirağ the National Development Party the Transition to Multiparty Life in Turkey
(Osman Kose, 2023) Karatas, Murat; Solak, Yeter
The political life in Turkey during the period of 1923-1945 showed a single-party characteristic. Turkey, which did not enter the Second World War in 1939-1945, faced some negativities brought by the war both during and after the war. These negativities have had a compelling effect on the government to switch to a multi-party system with the effect of external and internal factors. Nuri Demira & gbreve; founded the National Development Party while he was preparing to take a step towards a multiparty system in Turkey, forced by both domestic and foreign conditions. Although the party could not show an active presence in our political life, its establishment made an important contribution to the establishment of democracy culture and the Despite all the efforts of Nuri Demira & gbreve; as the founder and chairman of the party, the inconsistency in the party and the evaluation of party activities from the wrong points led to the party's indifference in political life. In 1957, the existence of the National Development Party in our political life came to an end quietly due to the fact that the party committee could not convene after the death of the party chairman, Nuri Demira & gbreve;.In this sense, our study aims to contribute to the literature by aiming to discuss the political adventure of the National Development Party, which stands at an important point in terms of the democratization process in our political life, and to reveal the role of its founder, Nuri Demirag, in this process.
