Turkish architectural periodicals as an agent of know-how transfer: 1960-1980

In this thesis, the role of architectural periodicals published in Turkey in the context of knowledge transfer between 1960 and 1980 is analyzed with textual analysis. One of the functions of architectural periodicals, transferring the changes and developments in the professional field in the world to their readers, has been investigated. The contents of three architectural periodicals that transfer architectural knowledge have been categorized by examining their archives. Thus, data were obtained and interpreted in the related chapters. As a result of the analysis, it was aimed to reveal the qualities of this knowledge transfer. According to the analysis, the contents on hospital design, architectural education, tourism, and urbanism, which were the most prominent topics in the three architectural periodicals examined during the period and which were also on Turkey's agenda, were investigated in detail. The role of the architectural periodicals of the period in terms of know-how transfer and their discursive differences with each other are evaluated. It is discussed how the three periodicals' different characteristics affect their approaches to the agenda and architecture.
