Betül Kurtuluş; Neriman Şahin Güçhan; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9768-6982; AGÜ, Mimarlık Fakültesi, Mimarlık Bölümü; Kurtuluş, V. Betül; 01. Abdullah Gül UniversityÇomakdağ is a rural region consisting of five villages and six plateau settlements in the Beşparmak mountain range in Milas district, Muğla province, Turkey. The simple stone masonry buildings on the rocky cliffs and the indigenous lifestyle of the local people form unique characteristics of the region. The historic urban fabric is still visible, and the traditional lifestyle continues in the region. However, the population has been decreasing, and some parts of the traditional fabric have lost their local characteristics. This article presents the typical characteristic of the Çomakdağ houses that date from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The aim is to introduce the rural architecture of the region and investigate the interactions between spaces and daily life. Moreover, physical interventions to adapt the houses to today’s needs in the Çomakdağ Kızılağaç village are explored through observations and interviews.Article Grey Spaces: Transitory Spaces in Liquid Modernity(DergiPark, KARE - International Comparative Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy, 2020) Nihan MUŞ ÖZMEN; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6137-882X; AGÜ; MUŞ ÖZMEN, Nihan; 01. Abdullah Gül UniversityIn the global age of today, while our lives are constantly dragged from one place to another, we consume places temporarily. It is also difficult to establish a connection with these places during short-term relationships. Many thinkers have pondered to describe these places where there is no attachment and where the sense of belonging is lacking. Within the scope of this article, the studies of Foucault – Des Espace Autres (Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias), Relph – Place and Placelessness, Augé – Non-Places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity and Koolhaas – Junkspace are discussed, which take the most place in the literature. First, these studies were examined in detail, and then all terms were compared with each other. In order to speak of the terms from a general view, a common term has been developed within the scope of this article and all these spaces have been defined as Grey Spaces.Article TURKEY(ROUTLEDGE2 PARK SQ, MILTON PARK, ABINGDON OX14 4RN, OXFORD, ENGLAND, 2017) Salman, Yildiz; Polat, Ebru Omay; Yoney, Nilufer Baturayoglu; 0000-0003-3161-9415; AGÜ, Mimarlık Fakültesi, Mimarlık Bölümü; Yoney, Nilufer Baturayoglu; 01.
